One of my favorite parts during an engagement session is engaging with my clients and getting to know each one in a much more personal level. I always strive to capture their thoughts and stories and articulate those experiences through words that I freely share through my blog. In Julie and Shaun’s instance, my words would be of no justice as Julie had written a beautiful account detailing their love story with such passion, warmth, humor and affection. Without further a do, the love story of Julie and Shaun as told by Julie.
Julie and Shaun met at good old Del Rio Lanes in their home town of Downey. Julie was working as a bartender at the time to help pay for grad school. One Saturday afternoon, Shaun happened to come into the bar with a few friends who were supposed to bowl, but they never made it to the lanes as they spent the entire time hanging out with Julie. She could hardly call herself a bartender as most of the drinks came from a computerized system. Shaun teased her about it among other things that whole time. When Julie got off of her shift, the boys invited her to stay for a drink and she politely accepted a shot of Patron.
Julie was drunk in love or maybe it was the shot, but she fell for Shaun right there and then but excused herself and said, “See ya next time!” Next time came just one week later when Shaun and a friend returned to the bar using the excuse that he only came back for the “cold beer” and “good air-conditioning.”
After a couple hours of teasing Julie AGAIN, Shaun and his friend left the bar only for him to return that same night alone as Julie was finishing up her shift. Coincidence? Maybe. Julie was almost off of her shift. She had such a long day and and was ready to go home. Truth be told, she had no desire to date at the time when her co-worker insisted she stay and have a drink with Shaun. In her words, “No one says you have to marry the guy, just have a drink with him!” Julie not only stayed for a drink, but Shaun’s rough exterior softened a little that night and here they are now.
To this day, Shaun won’t admit that he came back to see Julie but that’s okay…he asked her to marry him 5 and a half years later. Thank God for cold beer and good air conditioning.
Julie & Shaun- Thank you both for allowing me the opportunity of capturing the infectious bond you both share. It was amazing to see how in a few seconds you two could manage to bring out the best in each other. Looking forward to your amazing wedding in a few months.
Cheers!
Julie GuevaraLOVE THIS! Thank you!
